Pilot Assist Explained: The Driver Assistance Built Into Every 2027 Polestar 3

Read moreA fast charge is the stop that decides whether an electric road trip feels easy or tiresome. For Quebec shoppers weighing the 2027 Polestar 2, it helps to know what the car can take in, and where each kind of charging fits into your week.
This guide walks through the Long range Dual motor, the single variant offered in Canada, and how to plan home, workplace, and public charging around it.
There are two kinds of charging. AC charging feeds the battery through the car’s onboard charger, which is rated at 11 kW. DC fast charging skips that step and sends power straight to the battery, which is why it is so much quicker.
The battery is an 82 kWh lithium-ion pack running at 400 V. It accepts DC fast charging at up to 205 kW, and that figure is the ceiling, not a constant.

These times are for reference only. Your results will shift with the charger, the battery level, and the weather.
Think of the battery as a tank that fills quickly at first and then eases off. The 10 to 80% window is where the 205 kW peak does its work. Past 80%, the car slows its intake to protect the pack, so a stop to 100% takes far longer than the first 80%.
That shapes how you plan a trip. Two shorter stops that top up to around 80% usually beat one long stop that chases a full battery.
A charger’s own output matters too. A station that delivers less than 205 kW will not fill the car at its peak rate, so the car’s rating is the most it can accept, not a promise at every plug.
On the software side, the Polestar 2 runs Android Automotive OS with Google built-in as standard. With Connected Services Plus, which includes 36 months, Google Maps is part of the package, so you can look up chargers from the centre display.
The rated range is 447 km (preliminary, NRCan), so most daily driving never needs a public charger. The everyday answer is the home plug.
An 8 hour AC session on the 11 kW onboard charger takes the battery from empty to full. Plug in at night and you leave with what you need. The same logic applies to a workplace charger if your employer offers one: a few hours parked can cover a full day’s commute.
An optional 12A/40A 1-phase 6 m AC charging cable (Type 2) is available at no cost, which gives you a cable to start with.
Public fast charging is for longer drives. A 28 minute stop from 10 to 80% is about the length of a coffee and a stretch, and it is the number to use when you map a trip across Quebec.
Cold weather is the other planning variable. Batteries charge more slowly when cold, and trip times stretch with them. The optional Climate pack adds an energy-saving heat pump, plus heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel, which let you warm yourself without leaning as heavily on cabin heat.
The battery is backed by an 8 year / 160,000 km warranty, with free repair or replacement if its state of health drops below 70%. That covers the pack you will be charging for years.
The Polestar 2 suits the driver who can plug in at home or work. Most days begin with a full battery, and fast charging becomes the occasional tool for a longer run.
It also suits the shopper who wants strong performance alongside that charging routine. The Long range Dual motor makes 421 hp (310 kW) and 546 lb-ft of torque, and reaches 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, so a charging-friendly routine does not cost you any fun.
If you take regular highway trips, the 205 kW peak and the 28 minute window give you a clear planning number. Learn where the fast chargers sit along your usual routes, and the car handles the rest.
The 2027 Polestar 2 pairs an 82 kWh battery and 205 kW peak fast charging with an 11 kW onboard charger, so nightly home charging covers daily use and a short DC stop covers the long trips.
